This dude clearly has too much time on his hands, but check out this clip (it starts to make sense 1:21 minutes in...)
The crazy stuff people come up with... But it reminds me of a quote that hangs outside my office door (left there by the last pastor - but I'm keeping it): "Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards." Very true.
Join us for youth group at the regular time this week, as we look back at our lives and then try to live them forwards...

Horton: Hero of Faith

Still haven't seen the movie yet, but Horton is getting rave reviews. My blogging friend the Millinerd turned me on to some of the Christian messages in Dr. Suess's brilliant little plot. Think about it: Horton believes in something that everyone else thinks is foolish (the speck). Then he has to stick up for his beliefs, risking himself, because he knows its the right thing to do. Or look at it from the Who's perspective: one of them learns that the world is bigger than the speck, and that there's "something out there." He also realizes that the thing out there (Horton) is the only one who can protect and save him and his kind. So he has to convince the other Who's of his seemingly outlandish beliefs - for their own good!
Does any of this ring a bell as you think about Christian faith?
Speaking of Horton and Dr. Suess, I encourage everyone to get your tickets for the live version- Suessical the Musical, playing tonight and tomorrow night at Haddonfield Middle School (7:30 pm). Assistant directed by our own Charlotte Dewey and featuring youth-groupers Rosie Tucker, Ketura Tamu, Charlotte Dewey, Mary Robins and Katie Buchheit (and anyone else??) - it promises to be a high quality performance.
Regular youth group this Sunday - if the weather holds up we'll be heading outside for some springtime activities. See you then!

Rest assured - there will be events in June, July and August, including the much-anticipated lock-ins! I have not nailed down dates for those but will be in touch via email and the blog when those details are worked out.
For now, focus on bringing everyone you know to the talent show Saturday night!! 7pm!! It will be fun, I promise.
We have regular youth group Sunday night - looking forward to seeing everyone.

Spring Dinner

That's right, people. Spring has sprung, and its time for this youth group to celebrate!!
All youth are invited to help Jeremy cook and eat a special spring dinner this Sunday from 6-8pm. We'll cook together, eat together, hang out, do the hoola-hoop, play a game or two, and that's it! No gimmicks, just springtime good times!
Meet me in fellowship hall at 6 pm. Be ready to help me in the kitchen (i.e. don't wear your favorite white shirt).
Also at that time I'll be handing out April/May calendars. If you don't plan on coming to the dinner, calendars will also be available in the church office.
See you soon!
