Well, on Sunday I looked around at the dry (but cold and windy) weather and wondered if I'd made a mistake to cancel our fundraising day. The weather was so hard to predict last weekend...
Either way, we can still join the effort THIS SUNDAY to walk for Crop. If you haven't yet grabbed a sponsor folder, you can find them in the church office. Then, take these to your friends, neighbors, teachers, etc. and get people to sponsor your walk.
Then on Sunday, meet me at Villa Rosa at 1:30 for pizza. We'll head down to King's Court by 2 to start our walk, which usually takes about 2 hours. If you need a bit of inspiration, watch the video below...
In other news, it would appear that you 6th graders lead busy lives... only two of you were free to come to Friday night's scheduled lock-in, so, sadly, we're going to have to cancel. Hopefully those of you who couldn't make it Friday can carve out some time Sunday for Cropwalk. Otherwise, I'll see you next Friday night, the 30th, for our Halloween costume party!! (More on that to come...)
By now most of you have heard the news: the Sandersons are leaving Haddonfield after Christmas, moving back to Washington State and closer to Sarah's family. This was a tough decision for us but it has been clear that God has opened a door we need to step through. The hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to each of you.
I was grateful for those of you who came Sunday night to talk it through with me. Your tears, memories and good wishes deeply touched me. Now, we have two months left of good times, deep conversations and final goodbyes to enjoy.
I was encouraged by this reminder from a friend: "for Christians, "goodbye's" are always just 'see you later's'." Its true - in the long run, our faith tells us, we will rest in the "company of all the saints." Until then, let's make the most of these remaining weeks!
Those of you who plan to do Cropwalk fundraising with me, plan to meet up at 1:30 this sunday in the youth lounge. Unless its pouring rain, we'll get out for some door-to-door fundraising action, and see which team gets to embarrass me for the last time...
