So last Sunday, almost 40 of you came out to find out what God Squad and S.O.L.I.D. are all about!! You did great work creating our group committments for the year, and those will appear on posters in the youth lounge in the near future.

What's in a Name?

First of all, thanks to all of you who came out for hoagies and ultimate frisbee on Sunday. We got a great start on the year and I'm excited to watch our new group bond in the next few weeks...
So back to my question: what's in a name? A lot, actually. Which is why I decided it was high time our youth groups had a proper name! On Sunday, after hoagies, the middle school and high school groups sat down, put their heads together, and came up with AWESOME NAMES for their groups!! So, from now on, we'll have no "senior high" and "middle school" youth groups. No more "older group" and "younger group." From now on, our senior high youth group will be known as (drum roll here...)
S.O.L.I.D. ("Sharing Our Love In Devotion")
And, not to be outdone, Middle School Youth Group will now be known as (another drum roll...)
GOD SQUAD
!!!
Great job choosing names that are catchy, on target and meaningful. In the weeks to come, we'll explore the implications of the names you've chosen, and what our purpose is as a group.
In the meantime, enjoy these images I created based on your new names...
Looking Ahead:
This Sunday is our first week of regular youth group. Meet in the Youth Lounge (3rd floor of church). God Squad meets at 5:00 pm, S.O.L.I.D. meets at 6:30. Students should bring $3 for pizza dinner. Expect some games, some deep conversations, and a few surprises! Bring friends!
See you soon...

on your mark, get set...

...Here we go! Its September, school's in session, and youth group is back in action! Before we look ahead, here's a quick recap of the summer we just finished up (can't believe I last posted on May 28th!!)
- We finished off the year last spring with a "goodbye Eryn" party - over the summer, Eryn and Robert got married in the Dominican Republic and are now back in Princeton (congrats to the happy couple!).
-after raising more than enough funds (wow!) the Kentucky Mission trip group of 36 students and 7 adults spent an amazing week in July serving the good people of Frakes, Kentucky. Pictures are here. What a week, and what a team!
-that same group got to share about our trip when we led in worship at church on August 30th. through sermons, songs, stories and scripture, we brought the lessons of Kentucky home to our church family (check the "sermons" tab on this page to hear what Mr. Reinicker, Meredith Hoobler, Haley Manochi and Matt Nussbaum had to say).
Its been a great summer!!
Here's what's coming in the next few weeks...
Sunday September 13th - All-Ages Kickoff!! 5-7 pm at the Middle School Ballfield (behind church). We'll play some wacky games, eat good food (hoagies & such), get to know each other, and look at the calendar for fall. Bring family, friends, neighbors, strangers... this should be fun.
Sundays, September 20th & 27th - we're back into our regular youth group schedule, with a slight twist: this year, all middle schoolers will gather at the same time (5-6:30 pm) as will high schoolers (6:30-8). Plan on a year of good coversations, zany activities, deep thoughts, and service to others. Where else can you find all that??!!
